Pre-rolls offer the most convenient way of smoking cannabis, but what if you want a little more? Infused pre-rolls take your standard pre-roll to the next level. You might ask yourself, “What are infused prerolls, and what makes them better?” Look no further as we dive into the world of infused pre-rolls.

According to Weedmaps, “Infused pre-rolls are pre-rolls that have been infused with cannabis concentrates. In addition to cannabis flower, an infused pre-roll might feature concentrates like kief, hash, or rosin.”

There are many ways to infuse a pre-roll. With kief, one might dip the pre-roll in it or mix it with their intended flower. Other concentrates, like rosin and crumble can be sprinkled into your joint or packed into your pre-roll. Smoother consistencies, like sauce or budder, can be used as a coating around a joint.

This might sound like a lot, and it is, but this extra process is great if you’re looking for a greater high. While most flower on its own can boast a THC percentage of 11 to 35 percent, infused pre-rolls effectively can double the amount of THC present. Most times, this is in the form of THCa, which then becomes THC through smoking it. Because of this higher THC content, infused pre-rolls are not recommended for beginners or for people who have not yet ventured into the world of concentrates.

In a poll by Custom Cones, infused pre-rolls won out over uninfused pre-rolls at 52.2% to 47.8%. Infused pre-rolls first started becoming popular in California, and in Massachusetts, they’re slowly but steadily taking over the pre-roll market. Infused pre-rolls accounted for 1% of all cannabis sales in Massachusetts, according to a report by Leafly.

At Bask, we’ve decided to enter the infused pre-roll game in collaboration with Harpoon Extracts. With their help, we’ve been able to make some LA Kush Cake pre-rolls infused with their THCa crystals, creating a TAC number of about 50%.

There are benefits besides getting a bigger high with infused pre-rolls. Higher levels of THC could have higher levels of pain relief from inflammation. Another benefit is that you don’t have to haul out your expensive dab rig. Just grab an infused pre-roll and achieve that same effect. Mitchell Colbert at Leafly says that infused popularity is because “people love the convenience and that they can still get as high as if they had their favorite dab rig.”
