As summertime heats up it’s time to fire up the grill, enjoy time with friends and family, and spend as much time outside as possible. That’s why we’ve teamed up with local BBQ Sauce company, No Joke Smoke, to create a cannabis infused bbq sauce.
No Joke Smoke was founded by Swansea natives Sharon and Ryan Nahas in 2008 while on the search to define New England Style BBQ. Their signature sauce, Saweet Heat, is the perfect balance between sweet and spicy. According to their website, Saweet Heat is “the go-to sauce for everything from eggs in the morning to steak, chicken, and even vegetables at the dinner table.”
We’ve had some patients ask about potency loss when cooking with this cannabis infused bbq sauce. The best rule of thumb when cooking with edibles is to avoid going above 350 degrees F. Temperatures above that will degrade THC into CBN (the cannabinoid that makes you sleepy). To avoid burning off some of the THC in the sauce, we suggest using it as a glaze or for dipping. You can even get creative and pour it over rice, veggies, or potatoes!
Bask Infused BBQ Sauce Dosing Guide
Each 8oz jar contains 75mg THC
1oz or 2 tbsp = 9.37mg THC
.5oz or 1 tbsp = 4.68mg THC
.5 tbsp = 2.34mg THC
Patients who are new to cannabis edibles should start with a low dose of no more than 2.5 – 5mg. It may take more than 2 hours to feel the full effect. Speak with a member of the Bask staff for more information on dosing edibles.
